Thunderhawks News · Serena Clark and Dustin Horter Named PUTTER’S Athletes of the Week

Serena is a freshman on the Lakota East Girls Track Team.

The freshman phenom continues to prove she is a real talent on the Cincinnati Track scene this season.  She recently took first in the 100m in 12.14 and first in the 200m in 25.23 to move her on to Regionals.

Serena earned the very prestigious honor of being named the Runner of the Year in the GMC in 2017!  This is an amazing accomplishment for a freshman and speaks volumes of what is to come in her HS track career.

Dustin is  a junior on the Lakota East Boys Track Team.

Dustin has received so many recognitions and awards this spring.  He recently was voted the Best of the Best at the Enquirer’s Cincy 2016-17 Sports Awards for Cross Country.  HIs track exploits this spring continue to break down all time records.

At Districts Horter had a 1600m time of 4:11.59 to narrowly edge out the former record of 4:11.9, and in the 3200m he clocked an amazing OH #2 season time of 8:58.87, second only to his own 8:56 at Eastern Relays in April. This shattered the former District record of 9:12. Dustin will compete at the Regionals on Friday night.

Thunderhawks News · Serena Clark Runner of the Year – Girls Track 2nd at GMC Championships!!

The Lakota East girls track team had an extremely strong showing at the GMC Championships at Mason on Friday, placing in virtually every event!  They placed second in the GMC with 101.5 points!  Many notable performances were put in and it was truly a team effort.

Freshmen phenoms, Danielle Horter and Serena Clark were GMC Champions in the 3200 and the 100 and 200 respectively.  Danielle gutted it out in the 3200 with a winning time of 11:22.76 and Serena gracefully sprinted her way to victory in the 200 with a winning time of 25.65.

One of the big races of the night was certainly Serena and Kaylyn Heath (10) in the 100.  The two raced to a photo finish with amazing times of 12.23 and 12.24, with Serena first and KK placing second, very impressively.

Dani Stoughton (11) put in an incredible 400m race in a new East record of 58.75! Lindsey Kluesener (10) was able to vault herself to new heights with an amazing 10-00 pole vault, which ties the current Lakota East record and earned her second place!

Ali Neumeier was third in the 800 with a great time of 2:24.10.  The 4×100 relay team of Serena Clark (9), Kaylyn Heath (10), Malory Hook (9), and Jasmine Floyd (12) placed second in a time of 49.0, and the 4×200 relay team consisting of Dani Stoughton (10), Serena Clark (9), Kaylyn Heath (10) and Jasmine Floyd (12) placed third in a time of 1:45.07.

The 4×400 relay placed second in a time of 4:13 and Kaitlyn Rhodes (12), Ali Neumeier (10), Zoe Lape (11) and Dani Stoughtion (11) all contributed to that race.

Finally, the big news of the night was that Serena Clark earned the title of GMC Runner of the Year!  Congratulations to Serena!

It was really an incredible effort by every girl on the team, and each should be congratulated.

This week the girls team travels to Winton Woods on Wednesday and Friday for Districts; the first step in the road to State!  Full results from the GMCs are available at

Thunderhawks News · Girls Track Braves the Elements at Mason Invite

Friday night some of the Women’s Varsity team battled through terrible conditions of wind, rain and cold to race admirably.  Kiyanna Woodruff (10) ran a 17.9, placing 6th in the 100 m hurdles.  The 4×200 m relay, consisting of Serena Clark (9), Kaylyn Heath (10), Dani Stoughton (11), and Abby Stoughton  (11), placed an awesome third in that event with a time of 1:48.08.  As weather got worse, the rest of the sprints and many field events were cancelled; however, note must be made of our outstanding distance athletes.  Danielle Horter (9), ran an incredible 5:19.42 mile to place 10th overall (of 40) against a very competitive field from all over the state of Ohio.  Ali Neumeier (10) also ran admirably at a 5:26.09 mile. In the 800, Lauren McGarvey (10) PR’d, and  Lindsay Isom (10) and Kaitlyn Smith (10) had to wait until very late to contest an excruciating 3200 and both ran very well.

Next up for the East Track and Field Teams is the GMC Championships hosted by Mason on Wednesday and Friday this week.

Friday, May 12th with Field events @4:00 PM and Running events @ 6:00 PM
