Girls Varsity Cross Country · GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES SEASON AT STATE!

SPLETZER PLACES 9TH AT STATE!

GIRLS TEAM EARNS 4TH STRAIGHT TOP-10 FINISH

Carly Spletzer finished an incredible senior season, and high school cross country career, with a 9th place, finish at the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships this past Saturday at Fortress – Obetz in Columbus.  That performance comes after Carly was the Greater Miami Conference Champion, the District Champion, and the Regional Champion.  Just like in those three previous races, Carly went for at all at State.  She led the entire field through the 1-mile mark and then just fell off a bit in the last 2 miles to finish a very impressive 9th overall in the Division 1 field of the best 176 runners in the State.  Spletzer’s time for the 5k (3.1-mile) course, at the brand new Fortress location, was 18:27.6.

The Lakota East women’s team placed in the top 10 for the 4th straight year with their 9th place overall finish out of the 20 best Division 1 cross country teams at the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships this past Saturday at Fortress – Obetz in Columbus.

Following Carly Spletzer’s 9th place overall finish, was senior teammate Kelsi Harris who placed 31stoverall in the 176-girl field.  Her time was 19:02.9 for the 5k (3.1-mile) course.  The #3 girl for East was junior, Dani Thorner, placing 94th in 19:53 in her first State appearance of her career.  Sophomore, Jocey Willis was the next Thunderhawk across the line in 20:05, for 101st place overall.  Senior, Paxton Oberhaus was the 5th and final scoring runner for the Hawks, placing 118th with a time of 20:22.  Junior, Sarah Renfro placed 156th overall in 21:21 and Senior, Anna Kluesener placed 171st at 22:36.
