The Lakota East girls basketball team traveled over to Fairfield high school to take on the Indians on Wednesday, Feb. 5th.
East would jump out of the gates quickly and would take an early lead over the Indians. They led at the half 24-16. But Fairfield would start to make a comeback in the fourth quarter cutting East’s lead to 1. That would be as close as Fairfield would get as East would win another close game with their defense 50-49. Claire Vogelmann led the Hawks with 13 points and 2 rebounds. Camryn Eddy had 9 points and 4 steals while Madison French had 9 points and 3 steals. It was a great team effort to get the victory!
Lakota East improves its record to 12-9 on the year. This is the first winning season for the program since 2016.
The Lakota East girls basketball team traveled to Lakota West Saturday afternoon for their last regular-season game of the season.
It was a rough start for the Hawks as they could only muster up 10 points at the half. The Hawks weren’t in their rhythm from the start and would lose 76-30. Seniors Emily French and Grace Honingford led the way scoring for Lakota East with 7 points each.
The Thunderhawks end the regular season with a 12-10 record. East has a week off before their first tournament game against the winner of Fairfield or West Clermont, Wednesday, February 19th at Sycamore high school at 6:00 pm.
