The Lakota East girls basketball team looked to get their record back to .500 on Saturday afternoon as they took on Oak Hills.
Lakota East was behind most of the game and heading into the 4th quarter, they were down 41-30. The Thunderhawks clawed and battled their way back to tie it up 45-45 with 40 seconds to go! East got a huge defensive stop and would head to overtime. In overtime, the Thunderhawks were down by one with just over a minute left. Claire Vogelmann drilled a huge 3 to put East up two. Clutch free throws were made down the stretch by Madison French and Camryn Eddy to seal the win for the Thunderhawks 54-53. It was a complete team effort to get the Hawks into striking distance to win the game. Lakota East was led in scoring by Sarah Sewak with 11 points and 1 steal. Bri Harris had 7 points and 10 boards while Kelsey Siereveld had 6 points and 5 boards.
Lakota East improves to 7-7 on the year. Their next game is at home against Princeton Wednesday, January 15th at 7:15 pm.
