Girls Varsity Cross Country · LAKOTA EAST GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY 2019 SOUTHWEST DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!


HAWK RUNNERS CONTINUE “PERFECT” SEASON!
The Lakota East women’s cross country team kept their unblemished season intact on Saturday as they cruised to an OHSAA Southwest District team championship.  The Hawks’ top 5 runners’ places added up to an impressive 34 points with the next closest team (Loveland) 21 points behind at 55.  East was led by junior Kelsi Harris who was individually the District runner-up behind Princeton’s Maria Kaylor.  Kelsi ran an impressive time of 18:39.7 for the 5k (3.1 mile) Championship Course at Voice of America Metropark.

Kelsi’s junior cohort, Carly Spletzer, was close behind in 3rd place overall in a time of 18:46.8.  Another junior, Paxton Oberhaus, continued her breakout season by running another lifetime best of 18:56.8 for 5th place overall.  This moves Paxton up one spot to #13 all-time at Lakota East High School.  Seniors Danielle Horter and Hailey Wilson finished up the victory scoring by placing 11th and 13th overall in very respectable times of 19:15 and 19:28.  Sophomores Cali Reynolds and Sarah Renfro helped push back the scorers from other teams by placing 19th and 24thoverall in 19:59 and 20:11 respectively.

Next up for the Thunderhawk ladies is the Regional Championships at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio next Saturday, October 26th.  The girls will race at 12:30 p.m. where they will attempt to keep the undefeated season intact.  The top 5 teams and top 20 individuals will advance to the State Championships.
