Girls Varsity Cross Country · GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY WINS AT TROY!

The Lakota East Cross Country team took a mid-season opportunity to run on the Regional Championship course at the Troy Invitational this past Saturday.  The women’s and men’s teams expect to be running there in the post-season as well.

The Thunderhawk women posted a dominating performance in winning the 19-team Invitational.  The Lady Hawks placed four runners in the top 10 on their way to an impressive 41-point score.  Leading the way for East in a season-best performance was senior Danielle Horter who placed 3rd overall in a 290-runner field.  Her time was 19:21 for the 5k (3.1-mile) course.  Junior Kelsi Harris placed 5th overall in 19:25, which was also a season-best performance.  Junior Carly Spletzer placed 7th overall in 19:31 and junior Paxton Oberhaus had a breakout performance to place 8th overall in a lifetime personal best of 19:43.  That time improves Paxton’s own 23rd best performance in school history.  Rounding out the scoring for East was senior Hailey Wilson who continued her weekly improvements by placing 18th overall in 20:38.

East CC teams will be at the Milford Invite this Saturday, Sept. 14th.
