The Lakota East men’s cross country team continued putting the varsity puzzle pieces together this past Saturday at the Lebanon Running Warrior Invitational. The Thunderhawks placed 8th out of 20 teams in a competitive field. Sophomore Ashton Gibbs led the way once again for East and became the 32nd member of the sub-17:00 club in school history. Ashton placed 12th overall in the 193-runner field in a time of 16:59.5 for the 5k (3.1 mile) course.
Flynn Prather was the #2 man for the Hawks by running a lifetime personal best of 17:47 to place 37th. Sophomore Haitham Eid and senior Ethan Swift were the next runners across the line for East by placing 49th (17:57) and 56th (18:07) overall. The Hawks had a new #5 man this weekend with up-and-coming freshman Aidan Mahaffey running a 28-second personal record of 18:10 to place 61st overall.
East will be at the Troy Invite this Saturday, Sept. 7th.
