The Middletown Middies invaded the Hawks Nest on Tuesday night with an upset on their minds. The contest between the two GMC rivals was tight and tense battle with big plays by both teams on offense and defense. The Hawks would prevail 64-54, pulling away in the final quarter to preserve their two-game advantage in the GMC with just three games remaining in the regular season.
East outscored Middletown 22-14 down the stretch to get the win. The Hawks had four players score in double figures; Bash Wieland 17, Will Johnston 16, Grant Spicer 14 and Kaden Fuhrmann with 11.
The Thunderhawks will look to capture at least a share of the 2018-19 GMC title on Friday when they visit district rival Lakota West.
