Lakota East’s postseason run came to an end in the OHSAA Regional Semi-Finals last Friday night. The Thunderhawks (8-4) third playoff appearance fell short on an unusually cold night at Atrium Stadium in Mason. The Elder Panthers got the best of the Hawks with a 34-6 victory, punching their ticket to the Regional Final against Colerain.
The nasty cold evening made for a very difficult game as East struggled to control the football. The Elder defense held an offense without a touchdown for the second consecutive game and third time this season. Lakota East managed 130 rushing yards after averaging 273.2 during the regular season.
East’s lone score came when Junior linebacker Michael Howard intercepted an Elder pass on the first play of the second half and returned it 36 yards for a Thunderhawks touchdown. The PAT was blocked.
East ends a very good season at 8-4 overall, 6-2 in the GMC good for a third-place finish. Congrats to all the players and coaches on a fine season!
