Girls Varsity Cross Country · Girls Cross Country State Bound!!!

2ND AT REGIONAL!
On a chilly, windy day in Troy, Ohio this past Saturday, the Lakota East women’s cross country team narrowly missed becoming Regional Champions.  They ran an incredible race to place 2nd out of 18 teams, just 4 points behind #1 state-ranked Beavercreek.  The top 24 women in the race made the podium, and three of those were from East.

Placing 10th overall, in the 136-woman field, was junior Danielle Horter who ran a time of 18:36 on the legendary Troy Regional 5k (3.1 mile) course.  Just two spots behind Danielle in 12th place was sophomore Kelsi Harris, who continued her dominant post-season with a time of 18:44.  Senior Ali Neumeier, who has taken her racing to another level in the championship season, placed 17th overall in 18:59.  Super Frosh Cali Reynolds had a gut-wrenching kick on the final 300 meter straightaway to place 30th overall in 19:18.  Junior Hailey Wilson and Paxton Oberhaus were called upon to be the East number 5 scorer and they answered the call.  They both ran the best races of their young careers by placing 41st and 44th overall, respectively.  Their times were 19:42 and 19:46.  Senior Lindsay “Mom” Isom was battling a severe chest cold but still gave a very valiant effort for her girls and gave the race everything she had in the tank.  Lindsay placed 64th overall in 20:05.

The Thunderhawk women are focused and determined to challenge for a State Championship next Saturday, November 3rd at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, OH.  The gun will go off at 3:00 p.m.  GO GET IT LADY HAWKS!
