Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys Soccer Seeks GMC Title vs. West

HAWKS NEED A WIN AND HELP BY FAIRFIELD

The boy’s soccer team won their 5th match in a row on Tuesday night, taking down the Oak Hills Highlanders by the score of 3-1. After giving up a goal midway through the 1st half and trailing 0-1, the Hawks responded 3 minutes later to even the score  from a goal by junior, Luke Birdsong, assisted by junior, Adam Karman. Birdsong would connect on a penalty kick with one minute remaining in the first half, notching his 2nd goal of the match and putting the Hawks ahead 2-1 going into half time.

Ten minutes into the 2nd half, East took advantage of a free kick that bounced around in the box and was collected by junior, Nolan Earl, who fired a pass to the junior teammate, Eyad Qaqish, who placed it past the Highlander keeper making the final score 3-1. Senior goal keeper, Cayden Urmston, recorded 11 saves on the match.

East record moves to 7-5-3 (6-1-1 GMC).

East boys soccer is the #11 seed in the upcoming Sectional. They will host #15 Sycamore on Monday, Oct. 15th at 7:00 pm. The two teams tied 1-1 in an earlier season match.
