Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Defeats Springboro

East squeezed one more regular season game in on Thursday and defeated Springbooro 1-0 to send their overall record 20-4 on the season.

After 4 scoreless innings, the Hawks finally got on the board in the fifth.  Corrine Haverland led off with a single.  Abby Niehaus sacrificed her to second, Corrine advanced to 3rdon a groundout and scored on a wild pitch for the only run of the game.  Following the wild pitch, East loaded the bases but failed to score again.  An opportunity was also missed in the first inning as Cali Hoffman tripled but was stranded at 3rd.  Sydney Larson (12-3) threw the complete game shutout, scattering 5 hits and striking out 11 Panthers.

Next up for East Softball (19-4) is the District Championship contest versus Milford on Saturday, May 19th at Hamilton. The winner will advance to next weeks Regional semi-final (sweet 16) vs. either Lebanon or Fairfield.
