Girls Varsity Track · Serena Clark is GMC Runner of the Year in Girls Track!

Serena Clark was on fire yet again on Friday night as the East Varsity team competed at the GMC Championships.  Serena (10) won the 100 m dash in a time of 11.72, and she didn’t stop there!  She was also the 200m dash Champion in a time of 23:97 which is a new GMC record, Lakota East, and Lakota District Record!  She was also a part of the 2nd place 4×100 team (48.43) of A Stoughton, D Stoughton, and Hook.  For these fine performances, Serena was named Runner of the Year for the GMC!  Congratulations Serena!
Joining Serena as GMC Champions were Lindsey Kluesener and Carly Spletzer.  Lindsey (12) vaulted to 11-0 feet and a GMC win, and Carly (9) busted out an awesome 1600m run in a time of 5:12 to become a GMC Champ!
Dani Stoughton (11) got 2nd in the 200 with a time of 25.25, 3rd in the 400 in 57.89, and helped the 4×400 team to a 3rd place finish in 4:05.20 (with Terry, Strauss, and Lape).  Danielle Horter (10) ran a very nice race and finished 6th in the 1600 with a time of 5:27.98.  Heather Strauss (10) also sped around the track in the 400m dash in a time of 1:01.28 for an 8th place finish.  In the 800m run, East had two placers.  Ali Neumeier (11) got 4th in 2:23 and right on her heels, Kelsi Harris (9) took 5th in 2:23.5! Lindsay Isom (11) and Kaitlyn Smith (11) ran a great 3200m.  Lindsay finished 6th in a time of 11:52.65 and Kaitlyn were 8th in 12:43.78.
In the hurdles, East had Kiyanna Woodruff in 8th in the 100m hurdles in 16.38 and Anna Kluesener 7th in the 300m hurdles in 48.44, as well as Zoe Lape placing 8th in the 300m hurdles in 49.23.
In more relay and field news, the 4×200 team of Lape, Terry, Hilton, and Kleusener was 5th in 1:47.73, and the 4×800 team of Neumeier, Spletzer, Harris, and Thompson was 3rd in 9:48.86.  Finally, Nina Blount was 8th in the High Jump at 4-10, Abby Stoughton was 8th in the Long Jump at 15-7.25, and Gracie Clute was 7th in the Shot Put at 29-11.75.

The Women’s Varsity team placed third overall in the GMC to Princeton and Mason.  As you can see, this was a true team effort.  The girls placed in every event.  They look to win a District Title on W/F this week at Winton Woods High School. The First four in each event qualify to the Regional at Wayne High School on May 23-May25.
