The East boys basketball team earned a big win over GMC rival Mason on Tuesday night, by a score of 65-53. The lead exchanged hands several times in the first three quarters before East outscored the Comets 23-13 in the final frame to pull away. East hit 13-15 from the charity stripe enabling any thoughts of a Mason come back.
East junior Bash Wieland’s career best 28 points (11-19 from the field) was unstoppable and gave the Comets a defensive headache all night. Senior standout Jarrett Cox struggled with some foul trouble but still added 13 points and 8 rebounds.
The Hawks (12-7, 9-4) and Firebirds (3-15, 1-12) will hook up one more time this season at West this Friday night.
