GIRLS BASKETBALL IS UNDERWAY

Pre-season coaches outlook…

The East girls’ basketball program is coming off of a 6-17 season and a 7th place finish in the GMC. The 2017-2018 team returns several key contributors from last season’s varsity team including 2nd Team All GMC guard Jordan Stanley. We are also expecting contributions from some of the younger players who contributed to a very successful JV season. The team is comprised of 2 seniors, 11 juniors and 2 freshmen. After a great off-season, the team is looking forward to competing in the “always tough” Greater Miami Conference.

EARLY SEASON RESULTS….

The Lakota East Girls Basketball team started their season with a 63-42 loss at McAuley on Saturday, November 25th. Megan Hatfield led the Hawks with 13 points and snatched 9 rebounds.

East fell to visiting Fairfield on Wednesday, Nov. 29th by a score of 63-52. Jordan Stanley and Megan Hatfield led East with 12 points a piece.

Jessica Motley led the team in rebounds with 7 followed by Megan with 6.

Point guard Lily Rupp did a great job running the team offensively. Danni Stoughton and Maddy Bley led the defense which only allowed 13 points through the first 3 quarters. The team is now 1-2 on the season.

Next up is the East vs West battle in the Hawks nest this Wednesday.
