East Falls to West 2-1 in a Close Match

The Thunderhawks played their final match of the regular season and celebrated Senior Day last Saturday at the Hawks Nest against Lakota West.

Seniors Alexa Bencic, Emma Collett and Abby Stoughton, and their parents, were honored in an on-field ceremony between the JV and Varsity matches.

East got on the board first with freshman Reyna Mijangos and sophomore Alexis Trammel working together to take the 1-0 lead.  A penalty called in the box resulted in a PK opportunity for West, which they converted, to equal the score.  Both teams played good defense the second half and had scoring opportunities.  A goal in the final minutes of the game by West resulted in a 1-2 loss for the Thunderhawks.

The Thunderhawks, #13 seed in the tournament, take on GMC opponent Oak Hills in the first round tonight at 7 p.m. at the Hawk’s Nest.  Wear you Thunderhawk gear and come cheer the team on to a victory!
