The Lakota East Thunderhawks took on the Colerain Cardinals in the Hawks Nest on Tuesday evening, and both the JV and Varsity squads came away with victories.
The JV team kicked off the evening with a commanding 5-0 victory.
The Varsity squad struggled throughout the match to find a rhythm, but eventually settled down and started stringing together a series of passes.
Sophomore Alexis Trammel put in the first goal from distance, with an assist from sophomore Jackie Amaya, to get the Hawks on the board. Although the Hawks managed to put some quality balls behind the Colerain defense in the second half, they couldn’t quite get on the end of them until freshman Reyna Mijangos managed to track down a through ball from freshman Sophia Amaya and beat the keeper to secure the second goal and the 2-0 victory.
The Hawks (4-6-1) (3-2-0) travel Middletown on Thursday for another GMC match-up. JV kicks off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Varsity match at 7:30 p.m.
