East Football stays among GMC’s top teams this past Friday with a 42-28 win over visiting Oak Hills. East held a tight 7 point advantage at halftime then were able to salt the game away in the final two quarters of play. It was all about the ground game on the evening as the Hawks gained 441 yards rushing on a total offensive output of 476 yards.
East was led by junior RB Jack Dobrozsi’s 202 yard effort on 23 carries. Dobrozsi’s 5 TD carries in the game ties his own school record, which was attained earlier this season against Kings. QB Dylan Fry did some running of his own carrying the ball 12 times for 107 yards. Jeffrey Garcia had his best rushing night with 132 yards on 11 carries and a TD.
Next up its a mid-season, Battle of the Lakota’s this Friday night! East will invade Firebird territory in the annual rivalry game between the two district high schools as the Hawks will be seeking their 2nd win in a row, winning last season 21-14. East comes into the contest with an overall record of 4-1 and 2-1 in the league. West whose record is just the opposite (1-4, 1-2), lost 28-0 at Mason last week. As usual you can throw out the records when these two teams get together. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as a large crowd is expected.
