The Thunderhawks got some revenge on Monday night by playing spoiler to Lakota West’s Senior Night, winning 15-2. East got up early putting 5 runs on the board in the top half of the first inning. The Hawks scored in each of the 5 innings of play. John Sherman had himself a day both at the plate and on the mound. Sherman went 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles and an RBI. He also pitched 2 innings of work facing 6 batters and striking out 3 of them. East as a whole did well at the plate collecting 10 hits in the 5 inning run rule. The Hawks hits were by Noah Smith (1-3), Jefferson Syzdlowski (13-, 2RBI), Zack Holliday (1-2, 2RBI), Zack Kozerski (1-1, RBI), Isaac Harlow (1-1, 2RBI), Andrew Jaeger (1-2, 2RBI), and Jacob Owens (1-2, RBI).
Several East pitchers worked to get in some innings before the playoffs and combined for only 3 hits and 2 runs. John Sherman pitched the first 2 innings, Grayson Hamilton pitched the 3rd, Mitch Reardon took the 4th with 1 strikeout, Alex Kerr pitched 2 outs of the 5th and Brandon Caroll finished out the game for the Hawks.
The Hawks finished out the regular season 15-8 and finished 4th (tied with Mason) in the GMC with a record of 12-6.
Tuesday’s Sectional contest at East vs. Glen Este was postponed till this afternoon pending field conditions.
