Multiple Teams · Baseball Celebrates Senior Night

East’s game at Lakota West tonight has been cancelled and will be moved to Monday, May 8th, 5:00 pm. JV and Freshman games will be played at East on Monday.

On Wednesday night, Lakota East recognized 15 fine young men, who have contributed to the East baseball program throughout their careers. Congratulations to the following seniors: Hunter Holt, Winston Owens, Andrew Jaeger, Zack Dobroszi, Jacob Owens, Spencer Kenney, Zack Kozerski, Sam Sprockett, Isaac Harlow, Brandon Caroll, John Sherman, Joseph Cooney, Zack Holliday, Noah Smith, and Jefferson Syzdlowski. We wish you great success on your future endeavors.

Unfortunately, the outcome of the game was not what was hoped for. East lost to Lakota West 7-1 in a steady rain. Joseph Cooney got the start and pitched 3 innings with 5 strikeouts. Zack Dobroszi pitched the 4th. Brandon Caroll, making his season debut due to injury, pitched 2 innings with 1 strikeout and only giving up 1 run. Junior Dylan Smith pitched the 7th and had 2 strikeouts.

The Thunderhawk bats were quiet until the 4th inning when Winston Owens became the first base runner for the Hawks. John Sherman collected a hit in the 5th and Sophomore Kyle McDonough had one in the 6th. East finally got on the board in the 7th with a lead off bunt single by Junior Dylan Fry. Junior Jack Wilms followed with a single to right and Hunter Holt singled to left scoring Fry.

The Thunderhawks earned the #10 seed in the upcoming Sectional. They will play Glen Este (#24 seed) on Tuesday May 9th at Lakota East, 5:00 pm.
