Multiple Teams · Softball Advances, Defeats Tecumseh

The Lady Hawks defeated Tecumseh 10-0 in six innings last Friday to move on in the post season.  Kiannah Towe (13-2) picked up the win while striking out 9. The Hawks broke open a tight 1-0 game in the 5th by scoring 7 times. The key blow was Mackenzie Rieck’s grand slam HR, a line drive over the centerfield fence. Batting leaders for the Hawks: Kady Astrop, 2-4, rbi; Tara Manning, 2B; Rachel Lewis, 3-4, 3B, rbi; Rieck, 2-4, HR, 4 rbi; Kianah Towe, 2B; Kylie Dempsey, 2-3, rbi.


The Hawks dropped a non-league match-up with Louisville Ballard 6-4 on Saturday. Taylor Fair (7-3) picked up the loss giving up only 3 earned runs. After giving up 2 runs in the top of the first, the Hawks rallied for 3 in the bottom half of the first on an rbi singl by Hannah Messer and a 2-run triple by Mackenzie Rieck. 

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 6th, Mackenzie Rieck tied the contest with a solo homerun but the tie was short lived as Ballard scored 2 in the 7th for the final margin. Batting leaders for East: Kady Astrop, 2-4; Mackenzie Rieck, 2-3, 3B, HR, 3 rbi.

East (23-5) plays Wayne at West Carrollton on Monday, May 19th, 5:00 pm for the sectional championship.
