Multiple Teams · Baseball Advances Again in Post Season!

Lakota East knocks off 6 seeded Harrison 7-2 on Thursday night. The Thunderhawks advance in tournament play on the solid pitching from Andy Almquist. Almquist pitched a complete game allowing only 2 runs.

The defense really stepped up in this game with two double plays to end innings with runners on. The first was with a fly ball to centerfielder Max Minniear who caught and then threw the ball into second baseman Mykelti Akemon. The runner was off the bag and was tagged for the out. The other double play was with runners on 1st and 2nd , the ball was hit back to Almquist who with no indecision went to third baseman, Adam McDonough, on the force. McDonough then threw a laser to first baseman Austin Hatfield to get the double play and end the inning.

The Thunderhawk bats kept chipping away throughout the game. In the 1st, McDonough walked and Hayden Senger hit a line drive double to deep left scoring McDonough. Mykelti Akemon led off the 3rd with a base hit who then scored on a sacrifice fly by McDonough. The Hawks were able to tack on 3 big runs in the 5th with a 2 RBI single by Austin Hatfield. East then gets 2 more runs in the 5th and 7th by hits from Hayden Senger and Kyle Lepper.

Lakota East will face the winner of Elder/Hamilton next Thursday, 5pm at Western Hills High School.
