Multiple Teams · Softball Beats Piqua in Sectional Game

East traveled to Piqua for their first sectional game and defeated the Indians 11-4 on Wednesday. East got on the board in the top of the first on Taylor Fair’s rbi double. After surrendering 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the first, the Hawks erupted for 5 runs in the 4th to start to pull away and go up 6-2. The Hawks scored twice more in the 6th and 3 times in the 7th for the final margin. Overall, East pounded out 16 hits in the game and had base runners in every inning.

Lea Buckenmyer picked up the win to improve to 14-7 on the season.

East closed out their regular season with a 13-6 victory over Sycamore on Thursday afternoon. After a couple of fielding miscues, the Hawks found themselves trailing 4-3 heading into the top of the 6th but they erupted for a 10 run inning fueled by rbi hits from Lea Buckenmyer, Taylor Fair, Hannah Messer, and Brooke Dendler.

East is 20-8 will meet Centerville in the 2nd round of the Sectional tourney on Monday at Miamisburg.
