Softball Suffers Extra Inning Loss to Comets

East suffered a 13 extra inning loss at the hands of Mason on Thursday to end their GMC title hopes. The Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Rachel Lewis led off the game with a homerun.  The score stayed 1-0 until the bottom of the 6th as Sydney Larson had a no-hitter through 5 innings.  Mason plated 2 in the 6th, 1 unearned, and the Hawks tied the contest in the top of the 7th on a 2-out double by Emily Sauer and an rbi singled by Regan Butikofer. Both teams had several chances in the extra frames until Mason singled home the winner with 1 out in the bottom of the 13th.  Sydney Larson (13-3) went the distance in the loss giving up only 1 earned run and 8 hits in 12.1 innings of work.

Batting leaders: Rachel Lewis, HR, rbi; Emily Sauer, 2-5, 2B;       East 24-4 (16-2 GMC)

East (24-2, 16-2) moves on to the next round of the postseason with a Sectional Final game against Springboro at East on Monday, May 15th.
