The Hawks travelled to Oak Hills on Friday and dropped a tough 1-0 decision to the Highlanders. Oak Hills scored 1 in the first and pitcher Lauren Slatten made the run stand up by giving up only 1 hit and striking out 13. East’s biggest threat came in the second when Kady Astrop singled to open the frame and Taylor Fair walked. Gracie Sprockett sacrificed them to 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out but the Hawks were unable to advance them any farther. Lea Buckenmyer (1-1) took the loss while pitching 6 strong innings of 4 hit ball, striking out 4 and walking none. East falls to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the GMC.

Next up for the Hawks is a home game against Lakota West on Monday.
